We’re looking for an experienced Survey Crew Chief with 8+ years of experience to support our land development, energy & public infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities include:
Performs surveying necessary to layout of proposed facilities, retracing deeds and recorded surveys as part of boundary surveys, maps for future design and establishes ground control networks using GPS and conventional survey equipment.
Trains and mentors less experienced land surveyors.
Meets with and communicates with clients as necessary.
Completes accurate mathematical calculations manually, based on construction plans and other survey documents, using a calculator, handheld data collector, geomatic software or related CAD program.
Reads, examines, and understands construction plans, drawings, maps, plats, exhibits, images, land descriptions, field notes and field data.
Completes, organizes, and manages accurate and detailed daily upload/download of data, pictures, and field notes.
Maintains readiness of equipment and supplies, monitoring supplies and reports when new materials, equipment or licenses are needed for field operations.
Produces high quality work and enjoying a fast-paced work environment with great people.
The set of qualifications we’re looking for:
High school graduate (bachelor’s degree in surveying, mapping, or related program desired).
LSIT and/or CST preferred.
At least 8 years of experience in land surveying.
At least 4 years of experience providing technical guidance to other land surveyors.
Mountain surveying experience is preferable.
Highly proficient in mathematics and measurement.
Proven ability to effectively delegate tasks to others.
Intermediate to advanced AutoCAD skills, geomatics software skills (TBC, etc.), online document research skills.
Proficient in the principles and practices of performing basic surveys from ‘field-to-finish’.
Proficient in data linkage hardware, software: WiFi connections, VRS connections, Computer/laptop connectivity, Data collector connectivity, radio, cellular hotspot/phone/signal diagnoses and comprehension.
Advanced knowledge of Survey ethics and technical standards.
Advanced knowledge of care, cleaning, use and calibration of a variety of surveying tools and equipment.
Advanced understanding and application of the following technical skills: ALTA and boundary surveys, levelling, traversing, robotic total station operation and troubleshooting, GPS.
Driver’s license with clean driving record.
Physical Requirement:
90 – 95% of time spent in the field, 5 – 10% of time office (can be at your home or off-site work location).
The job requires the ability to sit for extended periods at a computer workstation.
Occasional travel to Client facilities and project sites require ability to be physically mobile in the field and construction sites.

Compensation
$ 70,000 - $95,000
Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
